TVCTV WINS BIG AT NATOATualatin Valley Community Television is proud to announce that two of its programs received top honors at the 22nd Annual National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors Government Programming Awards (GPA's) held at the downtown Portland Marriot Hotel. These awards recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia, and electronic programming by local governments. For the second consecutive year TVCTV has earned both a first and third place award in this competition that receives over twelve-hundred entries from over 100 local government television programs in the US and Canada. This is the second year TVCTV has participated in the competition. TVCTV's "Rivergrove I-BOTS LEGO Team" program took home the prestigious first place trophy in the Community Events Coverage category. The "Rivergrove I-BOTS LEGO Team" video follows Rivergrove Middle School's First Lego League Team throughout the 2006 Oregon State Lego-Robotics State Championships held in Hillsboro, Oregon. The First Lego League was designed to encourage young students to explore the world of computer programming and mechanical design while working in a team-oriented environment. TVCTV's "North Plains Garlic Festival" program placed 3rd in the same category. This unique annual community festival hosted by the City of North Plains lures in hundreds of visitors every summer. The festival showcases a variety of garlic and garlic infused foods, along with garlic-themed activities throughout the two-day event chronicled by TVCTV.
