HOUSE DISTRICT 34 SEAT FILLED DURING SPECIAL TELEVISED MEETING ON TVCTVBeaverton, Oregon June 9, 2008-The Washington County Board of Commissioners appointed a new House District 34 representative during a special board meeting held June 5th at Tualatin Valley Community Television studios. House District 34 candidates Chris Harden, Barbara Maloney and Jason Yurgel had the opportunity to individually state their case and answer questions from attending commissioners Tom Brian, Desari Strader and Andy Duyck during the two and a half hour meeting. Commissioner Dick Schouten was not present but participated via telephone. TVCTV provided the site for this meeting and recorded the event for later replay to viewers interested in seeing the Commission's appointment process. After a short deliberation the Commissioners reconvened ready to make a decision. Chris Harker of West Haven was unanimously selected to fill the House District 34 seat left vacant by Suzanne Bonamici. Chris Harker will serve as the House District representative through December 31st. Harker will likely run against Republican Piortr Kuklinkski for a two-year term in the November election.
