Beaverton, Oregon August 18, 2010 - Tualatin Valley Community Television was recently honored at the 2010 Oregon Flu Summit with an Oregon Partnership to Immunize Children- Oregon Adult Immunization Coalition (OPIC-OAIC) Award for Media Promotion. The OPIC-OAIC Awards honor individuals or organizations which have significantly contributed to increasing childhood, adolescent, and adult immunization awareness and/or the rate of immunizations in Oregon. TVCTV was one of the seven OPIC-OAIC Award recipients acknowledged for its outreach efforts within the community. More specifically, TVCTV was recognized for its involvement in producing quarterly Public Service Announcements for Washington County's Immunizations Department. Every season TVCTV opens its studio to a variety of government agencies, non-profits and local organizations to record free Public Service Announcements. This outreach opportunity has been particularly beneficial to the smaller organizations in Washington County that do not have the resources to promote their message. The OPIC-OAIC Awards were presented at the World Forestry Center on Thursday, August 26th as part of the 8th Annual OAIC Flu Summit.
